One of techno’s fastest rising stars of the past 18 months, Charlotte de Witte, is heading to Manchester in February, courtesy of Micron and 909. The Waveform Transmitter’s Niall Johnston prepares himself for three hours of sonic bliss.
On the calendar for some time has been the inaugural visit of Belgian techno wiz, Charlotte de Witte, to Manchester, to headline Micron & 909’s latest evening of unadulterated fun. It’s been so long in the making as she is one of the most in-demand artists to emerge in 2017 from the underground scene. de Witte is part of a growing cast of influential female DJs who are, quite rightly, gaining increased prominence on the line-ups of nights and festivals in the UK and world over.
The dark and industrial style of her sets will suit the cavernous surroundings of the Gorilla club, situated under the arches of a great railway bridge in the heart of gritty Manchester.
The hosts for the night, Micron & 909, are two respected north-west brands collaborating for the second time in recent months after bringing Andrew Weatherall and Ivan Smagghe together back in October. As the two promoters are setting their trajectory to the zenith point of Manchester’s underground club scene, we look forward to any forthcoming ventures they may have planned.
de Witte will play a three hour set (a policy of hers states she will play no less than that!) and will be supported by a squad of Micron & 909 DJs.
