Watt Hz has leapt back onto the Liverpool techno scene with a line-up that is sure to send industrial sounding shockwaves through the city. The Waveform Transmitter’s Jack Threlfall has the news on their next event, and an exclusive on their 3B Records pre-party.
The announcement that one of UK techno’s premier acts, Perc, is to grace Merseyside’s IWF Substation is a real testament to Watt Hz?’s intent. As a DJ, Perc has taken to the decks across the world in seminal clubs such like Berghain, Fabric, Cocoliche in Buenos Aires, Space Ibiza, Tresor, Unit in Tokyo and many more. His sound is a one that epitomises the current techno zeitgeist, and acts as a guiding light for the underground.
If the headline act was not enough of a coup, then the fact that Watt Hz? have also handed out Liverpool debuts to Mord Records darling Under Black Helmet and Structure resident Xavier is even more reason to take note of the growing party brand.
As a precursor to night, the Watt Hz? crew have secured an exclusive pre-party at the stalwart 3B Records in the city centre, with Under Black Helmet and Xavier stepping into the fold for what promises to be an unmissable afternoon session. Berlin-based Lithuanian artist, Julius Laurašonis, aka Under Black Helmet, is a rising force in the dark art of industrial-laced techno. His recent productions on Mord Records have sent dark swirling clouds over the scene – tracks like ‘Impulsive Behaviour’ and ‘Jagged’ have garnered acclaim from techno lovers and DJs from all over the world.
Watt Hz? promises to bring true underground techno to the industrial North Docks of Liverpool. With a live 3D visual feast by leading Manchester light artist – Atipyka Visua-lab – and a formidable partnership with Liverpool Audio Network and 3B records, the 24th March should be pencilled into every Liverpool-based technohead’s diary.
