Belgium’s fastest rising star, Amelie Lens, is to launch her own imprint, LENSKE, in May. The Waveform Transmitter’s Ste Knight has the latest on the techno producer’s upcoming label.
Amelie Lens must be one of the hardest-working individuals on the current underground techno scene. This is evidenced both by her rigorous touring schedule, her release calendar(she released four EPs last year alone), and by the almost omnipotent nature of Amelie Lens-related media that is on a seeming constant flow from multiple sources within the industry. A great thing to see; that a producer, who only started out as recently as 2016, is pushing their sound as successfully as she is.
May sees Amelie launching her label, LENSKE, with the first release coming from Farrago. Risin’ comes with four tracks; a Kobosil remix of Farrago‘s title track; Jealousy, which is a joint effort with Farrago and Lens behind the mixing desk; and two Farrago releases, The Riddler and Hidden Power. Anyone who has heard Amelie‘s productions or seen her DJ before, will know the affinity that she shares with the deeper techno sound. Cavernous kick-drums and seismic bass rumbles are fast becoming Lens‘ signature sound, so it makes sense that LENSKE would follow suit, allowing her to explore this sound further and via different means.
Amelie and Farrago are gearing up for for a gig at Liverpool’s Underground nightclub, following on from her outstanding performance at Birkenhead Priory, back in 2017. If her set this time round is even half as impressive as her last Merseyside outing, then ticketholders will be going home having sweated it out good and proper. You can still buy tickets for the event, which takes place on April 13th, starting at 10 pm, at Underground. Hopefully the pair will be airing some new material (hint hint).
The label and Risin’ both launch on May 25th, 2018. In the meantime, you can take a listen Jealousy by Farrago and Amelie Lens, below. Expect a high-octane, siren-drenched, dark little number…
