MaschinenFunk, the brainchild of Liverpool favourites MrPaul and Moritz, have secured the services of Jennifer Cardini for their next shindig. The Waveform Transmitter‘s Ste Knight expects big things from their second outing.
Those in the know, know that Jennifer Cardini is kind of a big deal. The French DJ and producer has been garnering herself plenty of attention over the past decade or so, and for good reason. With releases on Crosstown Rebels, Mobilee, and her own CORRESPONDANT imprint, alongside mix compilations such as Kompakt‘s Feeling Strange, Cardini has ensured that she is most definitely not one to be ignored.
Fortunately for the people of Liverpool, MaschinenFunk, a joint venture between two integral nodes of the Liverpool underground electronic music scene, MrPaul and Moritz, are inviting Jennifer to grace their decks. The pair met behind the mixing desk at Melodic Distraction where they had manned the wheels on the same night. What followed was a cataclysmic meeting of minds which eventually led to MaschinenFunk being born.
Of course, prior to meeting each other, they were following their own solo paths, with MrPaul having been involved in several of Liverpool’s most uncompromising parties, Waxxx and Discoteca Poca (which he ran), alongside numerous others. Also of note, he was the only scouser to have taken part in Red Bull Music Academy, during its 20 years in existence. How about that?!
Moritz is more of a newcomer to the scene. But that isn’t to discredit him in any way. He clearly knows his onions and has been busy making a name for himself in the city, dropping some rather meaty slow-mo house on his Melodic Distraction shows of late. Surely a taste of things to come at their upcoming event.
Speaking of which…May 19th sees the pair bringing one of house music’s most well respected heads to the city; Jennifer Cardini will be heading down to the dungeons of Invisible Wind Factory‘s Substation for . The low ceiling makes for a heady sweat-out to say the least; a perfect venue for Jennifer to do her thing. She will, undoubtedly be dropping one of her diverse, high energy sets, sets that are very telling of her immense knowledge of electronic music, as well as her skills in weaving a rich tapestry from the music she plays for us. She will be supported by MrPaul and Moritz.
Tickets for Jennifer Cardini at MaschinenFunk are available now, you can grab yours, here. You might want to get a move on, though, as the first two tiers have sold out. In the meantime, have yourself a listen to Jennifer‘s recent BAR Radio mix, here.
