Event: Just Techno presents Spektre, Chester

Chester’s Just Techno brand is gearing up to bring Spektre to the North West, for their Chester debut. The Waveform Transmitter‘s Ste Knight has the details.

When someone mentions the word ‘techno’ to you, Chester isn’t necessarily the first location that springs to mind as an electronic music mecca. However, Just Techno have positioned themselves as Chester’s bastion for the sound, and they are bringing one of the UK’s most exciting techno acts to the city on October 26th; Spektre.

Spektre‘s output, of late, has been phenomenal. Their recent EP on Reinier Zonneveld‘s Filth on Acid imprint – Eye of the Swarm – is an exercise in the progressive house sound, taking the melodic, atmospheric elements of house, and marrying them perfectly with the driving, darker edge that techno offers. There’s even a healthy dose of acid on the record, for anyone who loves the familiar acid squelch.

Spektre‘s passion for the electronic sound translates perfectly to their command of the mixer; in a DJ capacity, the pair can deftly flit between thunderous, big room techno, and progressive house with a more atmospheric nature to it. Given that they have produced music within both of those genres, it makes sense that they could deliver both within a DJing remit.

Support on the night comes from: Spektre‘s Respekt Records stablemate, Gary BurrowsDistek, who has seen releases on Subcult Records; and Loose Cannon, a 24-year-old Leicester DJ who has been making waves with the Lisa Lashes School of Music.

Just Techno presents Spektre takes place at Chester’s Live Rooms. You can grab tickets for the party, right here. See you down the front!
