Event: Space Jamz, Smithdown Social Club, Liverpool (Plus Chemtrails Comp news)

This Saturday 18th May sees Liverpool’s favourite ‘dancing party’, Space Jamz, return to Smithdown Social Club for their third shindig. The Waveform Transmitter‘s Ste Knight has the details.

It is fairly likely that if you follow the crew over at Upitup, or you are familiar with the Chemtrails posse, then you will be at least aware of the Space Jamz parties that members of both collectives are putting on. If you haven’t been, then you really need to get yourself down to check it out…and there just happens to be one this weekend! If you’re after a bit of evening fun this Saturday, then heading to Smithdown Social from 6 pm – late; it will be the best decision you ever made.

If disco, boogie, electro, and soul are your bag, and you like to give your hips a twist alongside a fun-loving and 100% padded-Armani-trab-wearing-wanker-free crowd, then the Space Jamz tastemakers have got your needs covered. We went along to the last one and it was fucking brilliant, so there’s absolutely no reason why this one won’t be just as great. Your blood-fun levels might reach dangerous highs, but as long as you keep on dancing you should be able to maintain a fun-plateau so your face doesn’t burst into a very fine vermilion miasma.

The last one…

This weekend sees six of the globes hottest DJs (looks and skillz) throwing down a session of such magnitude that earthquakes emanating from the Smithdown Social epicentre are likely to wreak devastation most of the UK. The safest place to be is on the dancefloor as Bolts, Isocore, Jacques Malchance, Holmesy, Bugsy Wan, and TKNKLDFKLTZ rain down furious feels all over the crowd. Think Blade but with more vampires and you’re there.

Apparently the Ladies toilet is a pink-heavy vintage feast for the eyes but as I’m male and loitering in any public toilet is an arrestable offence, I’m taking female party-goers’ word for it. If you’re a girl and you’re into checking out bogs, though, there’s another USP (like you needed any more). Seriously, Smithdown Social Club is a boss little community venue, and you really ought to try and get along and support keeping the place open because it is a brilliant space.

While we have you…we’re not sure if you’ve heard, but the folk at Chemtrails are seeking a theme tune for their radio show over on Melodic Distraction. Obviously, the theme of the…theme tune…is chemtrails, so get your thinking caps on and try and knock something tongue-in-cheek (and chemtrail-related) up for the show.

The winner will be selected as the opening track for each edition of the Chemtrails radio session, with all the other tracks being played during that weeks show. They may even put an album together if there’s enough entries so it’s will worth a punt! The deets are below…anyway, see you down at Smithdown Social Club on Saturday for Space Jamz, you big weirdo.
