This week, our Secret Weapons playlist is fired directly at our eardrums courtesy of Karina, on the back of her recent release on New York label, Absence Seizure. The Waveform Transmitter’s Ste Knight presents ten ballistic missiles from the producer.
September 2nd saw Karina joining Matuss‘ Absence Seizure imprint for the 12th installment in their vinyl series. Her track, Acid Meow, features as the title track on AS012, and is backed up by three additional productions from Julia Matuss – the brains behind the Absence Seizure project.
Many of you who have visited the White Isle in recent years will be familiar with Karina. The well-travelled Pole is well-known, across Ibiza, for her involvement in the Zoo Project parties, which are famous for being a no-holds-barred affair that pack in the energy to bursting point.
This energy is translated into the title track for Karina‘s production on the Acid Meow track. A minimal vibe underpins the track, which rolls along nicely, with the inimitable 303 sound taking centre stage as it oscillates and arpeggiates with aplomb.
We are lucky enough to have Karina with us for the latest in our artist-led playlist series; Secret Weapons. Take a look below, and see what contraband Karina packs in her attache case. You can grab a copy of AS012, here.

Francois K Hypnodelic [Wave Music]
Absolutely timeless house from New York- never leaves my bag! Smooth and groovy baseline combined with cool vocal makes this an absolute classic!
Silat Beksi & Daniel Broesecke Get Some More [Vivus Records]
Who could believe that a sample of Portishead would make the crowd so crazy? Gives me chills!
Cosmjn Butterfly Drop [Eastenderz Smooth]
Deep and floating…takes me to the beaches of Ibiza.
The Mountain People La Onda [Mountain People]
Groovy baselines and subtle melodies from Switzerland. Great track for build up or for an opening set. I’ve been a fan of their production and label since their first release.
Delano Smith Wires [Sushitech]
I recently ordered a second copy of this record, as been playing this on and on. Never gets old.
Ricardo Villalobos Easy Lee (Soul Capsule’s London Bootleg Mix) [Playhouse]
Dubby, Stripped down minimal house with a vocal that you never forget- I love to play this in the middle of my set! This is definitely my favorite edit.
Oliver Dollar & Crazy P Loose Beat [Yoruba Records]
Bomb! The vocal and the piano part make people smile. Good vibes!
Ahu Nord Dream [International Sun]
My Iranian friend Ahu produced the whole album in Berlin using mainly Nord. Dubby, deep with intricate beautiful pads, it truly is a dream. I’ve used several tracks in podcasts and really enjoy to listen to the whole composition at home.
Lapsley Operator (DJ Koze’s Extended Disco Version) [XL Recordings]
Without doubt one of my favorite closing tracks! Fire!
Carl Craig – Sandstorms [Planet E]
Hypnotic, dark with a beautiful singing synth. Got this record years back in Warsaw. Very powerful music that reminds me why I love techno so much.
