Music: Autonomous – Dialekt EP (Avoidant) // Exclusive Premiere (Electro)

Autonomous heads to the Avoidant imprint with a triple header of Motor City electro on the Dialekt EP. The Waveform Transmitter‘s Ste Knight takes a listen, and presents an exclusive premiere of The Void.

There has always been something so raw and mechanistic about the Detroit electro sound, and duo Autonomous deliver a triple header of Drexciyan machine music as they bust Avoidant‘s first release of 2020 out from behind their creative bars, following the 2019 leftfield noodlings of PinballSpider.

The three-pack commences with the harder edged title track. Dialekt is a perfect example of how to ‘do’ electro, with ballistic percs setting the foundation for some foreboding synth work to take centre stage.

The Void follows up with a similarly solid sound, one which we premiere exclusively for you here today. Classic Detroit 808s are paired up with blistering acid lines to keep things on a steady track as we cross the EP’s mid-point.

The closer, Celestial Spaces is, as you might expect, an altogether more chilled affair – but that doesn’t mean it lets up on the dystopia. Ethereal pads float over the top of an insistant bassline and crunching drum patterns.

A great start to the year for both Autonomous and Avoidant. Fans of the electro sound are going to lap this release up, get on it from Monday 27th, here.
