What is a Daily News?

A daily news is a newspaper that is published every day. A daily newspaper provides news about current events and covers a wide range of topics, including politics, sports, business, and entertainment. It also includes opinion pieces and editorials that offer different perspectives on the news.

The New York Daily News was founded in 1919 and is the first newspaper to be printed in tabloid format. Initially it attracted readers with sensational coverage of crime, scandal, and violence, lurid photographs, and cartoons and other entertainment features. In time it came to be one of the most influential newspapers in the United States, with a circulation that at its peak in 1947 reached 2.4 million copies. Despite being locked in a fierce circulation battle with its rival, the New York Post, the Daily News retained its reputation for investigative journalism and its high-quality international reporting.

In the 1930s it began to establish television and radio stations, including WPIX, whose call letters were based on its nickname as “New York’s Picture Newspaper.” The News also maintained local bureaus in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens. Its headquarters was in the famous art deco Daily News Building, located at 450 West 33rd Street in Manhattan.

Until the early 21st century, the News was owned by the newspaper publisher Mortimer Zuckerman. It struggled to compete with its more popular rival, the New York Post, and its circulation declined over time. In 2017, the paper was sold to Tronc, a Chicago-based media company.

Each day the New York Daily News publishes stories about the city and its people, as well as national and world news. Its award-winning writers, columnists and opinion formers bring you news from the world’s greatest city — and beyond. No one covers the Yankees, Mets, Giants and Jets like the Daily News.

The New York Daily News has long been known for its quality printing, and a key to that success is ECO3’s SPIR@L screening technology. The result is outstanding print consistency across the entire press run, with reduced image slurring and exceptional sharpness. ECO3 also offers color calibration to deliver the best possible image quality and maximized dot gain.
