What Is Law New?

In a constantly changing profession, there are new ways to deliver legal services and strategies to address client needs. One concept that is emerging is the idea of “law new.” Although it can be hard to pin down, a broad definition of law new could include the use of non-traditional practice methods or addressing clients in different ways. Regardless of the exact methodology, this new approach is meant to benefit clients and bring value to legal work.

New laws are created in Congress to address specific issues or to update policies, reflecting the needs and priorities of the American people. The process of creating a new law involves several steps including drafting, committee review, floor debate and voting. This system allows elected representatives to respond to constituent concerns and demonstrates the principles of democracy through representation and accountability.

This bill would require City agencies to provide employees and job applicants with notice regarding the availability of federal and state student loan forgiveness programs. DCWP will prepare and distribute this notice to City agency employees and job applicants, and publish it on its website.

New York state law consists of constitutional, statutory and regulatory law, which is periodically codified in the Consolidated Laws. The New York City Charter also contains law. Local laws can be passed by the City Council or other government agencies, and may include ordinances, regulations or regulations adopted under executive order.
