Welcome to The Waveform Transmitter

As The Waveform Transmitter welcomes you to its inaugural post, our chief ed Ste Knight welcomes you with open arms. Read on to find out what we’ve got in store for you.

So, here we are in 2017. After the complete and utter Voldemort that was 2016, it seems only fair that we at least make an attempt at a fresh start. With that in mind, we’d like to welcome all of you to The Waveform Transmitter.

It is pretty difficult to predict exactly what we’re going to come across in our journey, but we’d at least like to give you some sort of idea about what you can expect from the magazine, and what our whole ethos encapsulates.

We’re going to be bringing you the best in cutting-edge, underground dance music on a local, national, and global scale. We’ll have news, previews, and reviews on up-and-coming artists, as well as established artists and legends on the scene.

We’re also starting our own Waveform mix series, which will feature artists from around the globe. We’ve gone with a local hero for our first mix; 303’s Samuel Lamont turns cosmic entity for the first in our exclusive series. We’ve also got a Direct Transmission from a legend on the dance scene, which we’ll be dropping at 7 pm.

We’re going to be scouring SoundCloud, Bandcamp, and a multitude of other sources to bring you exciting new artists from the electronic underground.

We’ll have news on the nights we think you’d enjoy the most in the North West and across the rest of the country, and we’ll be holding regular ticket competitions so you and your mates can be in with the chance of partaking in some quality dance music courtesy of our good selves. In fact, there’s one coming up today at 11 am! Who’s not a winner here, please?

We should probably take a second to explain what you’ll find and where. Everything is categorised at the top of the page you’re reading – the categories can be described as follows.

  • Features – The meaty stuff. These generally take the long form.
  • News – The latest industry news, from artist announcements to new gear.
  • Reviews – Pretty obvious what these are. Singles, EPs, and albums…in review!
  • Interviews – Another obvious one. We ask questions, we get answers.
  • Mixes – You should all know what these are. Here, you will find our Waveform DJ mixes, our Waveform Live Series, our Sunday Service mixes, and our New Blood mixes.
  • Playlists – A potential goldmine of tracks you’ve never heard, courtesy of your favourite artists, in playlist form.
  • Events – Here you’ll find events news and reviews.
  • Competitions – Win things!

There’ll be tonnes of features, exclusives, track premieres and much much more, so strap yourself in and come with us for the ride – we’re sure you’ll have as much of a blast along the way as we will bringing you The Waveform Transmitter.

More than anything, we would like to promote a sense of positive community within dance culture; something which has arguably been lost over recent years as the scene has given way to its own politics. We should all be unified in our common goal – to love, honour, and respect one another. It might sound a bit cheesy, but that is what our scene was borne of, and so we should all try and maintain that very same ethos.

Make sure you follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for up-to-the-minute news, #livetransmissions and more exciting stuff.

Thanks for reading – we’ll see you all down the front.

  1. Have a look at Sam Bangura at Half Baked Records who is an ace DJ… this guy is killing it… he’s played a lot of European gigs as well as Beirut and Morocco…
