The coverage of the BPM Festival has been something to behold, but tragedy has struck this morning as gunshots are fired at two closing parties.

The BPM Festival is known as one of the biggest electronic music festivals on the planet. Held at Playa Del Carmen in Mexico, the festival draws in huge crowds, all of whom are there to celebrate their love of dance music.

Tragedy has struck in the early hours of the morning, as shots were fired at two closing parties – as yet it is unconfirmed whether any other parties were affected.

The first to be hit by gunmen was the Elrow closing party at The Parrot venue, in which it is believed that 5 people were killed by gunfire, with several more being injured. According to reports from the scene, a gunman was witnessed running past railings and firing indiscriminately into the crowd.

Jackmaster, who played a b2b set with Skream on Friday, tweeted the following:

We understand that a second closing party, located at The Jungle, was also subject to gunfire. The status of the crowd at that party remains unconfirmed. We’ll bring you more on the tragic events as the news develops.
