Stefan Weise recently headed to 3km Records for his latest release, Fractal Soul. The Waveform Transmitter’s Andy Weights takes in the dancefloor devastating triple header.
Out now on 3km Records is Stefan Weise with the digital single release, Fractal Soul. With a remix from Remy Unger and super B-side track, Tesseract Funk, keeping them good company, there is no better a time to tune in and check it out.
Set up by veteran DJ, producer, and radio host Stefan Weise, the label’s releases thus far have been drumming up support from the likes of Fred P, Jonas Kopp, Danny Tenaglia, Ian Pooley, Ben Sims, and Kirk Degiorgio among many others.
Stefan grew up in Europe but is now based in the good old U S of A. Boasting twenty years of production experience including appearances on Lucidflow, King Street, and Frequenza, and with over a decade of running his Blue Industries show on Proton Radio, we see the groundwork for this new venture.
Track one, Fractal Soul, gives us an example of Stefan’s engaging ear for a deep and expertly executed floor jam. Vocal stabs create a unique feeling over a range of layered, electrified synths that are positively drenched with chilled, upbeat vibes and emotion. If you peek beneath the obvious ingredients you’ll catch the funky, swinging beat that makes this original cut a blend of the highest degree.
Remy Unger tackles the remix here. Opting for a patient and smooth intro, changing up the feel for a softer and more chilled out approach. Adding melodies and some new synth lines that help push this beauty into a new direction, offering another stunning interpretation from another master craftsman.
Remy Unger is an influential figure hailing from Holland, who can be found spinning regularly as a resident at Click. Not content with staying in one place he frequently jumps borders, landing at leading festivals such as A Day at The Park, Timewarp, and in closing sets at Awakenings too.
A label head also, Fone Audio was created with partner Patch Park, and a recent project titled WAXBOX has continued his production output. His respected sound can also be found on such imprints like Alexander Koning’s [percep-tion] and Pig & Dan’s ELEVATE.
With the production passed back to Weise, the B-side track Tesseract Funk is the edgiest and most straight-up, dance floor focused number. Taking chopped-up vocal samples that add an energetic, nitro sound, there’s an old school flavour all over the track, from beginning to finish with a monster, killer break that smashes back in. A purposeful, designed production that will definitely grab the attention of any seasoned DJ, who likes to do some ‘deck sorcery’ dealing plenty of damage for those who know how to handle it
Out now on digital, for your discerning ears and audience’s feet on 3km Records, Stefan Weise – Fractal Soul.
