News: Трип to release concept album marking 20th release featuring Aphex Twin

Nina Kraviz’ Трип imprint hits its vicennial release, celebrating with an album featuring a stellar contributing cast. The Waveform Transmitter’s Niall Johnston has the details.

Nina Kraviz’s label трип has announced details of a new concept album called Don’t Mess with Cupid to mark their 20th release. Out on July 20th, this is the latest in a string of concept albums from the label, following 2016’s Sleep Not Found and When I Was 14.

The 10-tracker will feature one track each from some of the normal трип roster but also some new faces that fit well with the freaky, idiosyncratic sound that the label has already become associated with in its short lifetime.

Kraviz herself will close out the collection with Opa, whilst PTU, Bjarki, Exos and Biogen all offer up more of their extra-terrestrial inspired productions for our listening pleasure. Russian artists Nikita Zabelin, Shadowax, and Roma Zuckerman also feature alongside hardcore legend Marc Acardipane.

Perhaps most exciting is the track 15 c7 by Universal Indicator, a project between Richard D. James, AKA Aphex Twin, and Mike Dred, who was part of the Rephlex crew. The duo hasn’t released, let alone worked together, officially since the ‘90s (three EP’s of slamming, untitled acid-techno) so we’re buzzing to see what they have come up with.

You can get a taster for the sonic psychosis to come with Shadowax‘s I Want to Be a Stewardess:
