Manchester brand 909, sister to Liverpool’s 303, are teaming up with Wirral’s Av. Verde, to bring techno titan, Dave Clarke, to Birkenhead Priory, this weekend. The Waveform Transmitter‘s Ste Knight has a handful of tickets to give away to lucky readers.
909 and Av. Verde both have their figurative heads screwed on in terms of booking artists. Last year saw Av. Verde bringing Amelie Lens to the Priory, situated in Birkenhead; a brilliant setting for the kind of powerhouse techno that the Belgian DJ and producer proffers. 909 have also hosted some awesome acts in the past 12 months, including Charlotte de Witte and John Digweed. This time around, the two have teamed up to bring techno legend, Dave Clarke, back to Merseyside.
If you’re reading this, then The Baron should need no introduction. His sets are an uncompromising journey through techno and electro’s outer limits, where huge mountains of static dominate the landscape. It goes without saying that having Dave Clarke delivering his sermon from the altar at Birkenhead Priory will be a special experience and definitely not one to be missed.
In support of Clarke‘s appearance at what the organisers have dubbed ‘Birkgain‘, and in keeping with his harder edge, Gemma Furbank will be tearing it up in her own inimitable style. Gemma‘s sets definitely pull no punches, so expect a blistering performance from her. KUSP will be adding an industrial twist to proceedings. Their closing set for Amelie Lens last year was phenomenal, so definitely not to be missed.
Obviously it wouldn’t be complete without Liverpool favourites Stuart Hodson and Samuel Lamont showing their prowess behind the wheels. Energetic techno is the order of the day when these two join forces. Tom Page will be starting the day off for us. The tRiBesman threw down a belting set when we saw him a few weeks ago at Beat-Herder, and he consistently brings his A-game, so we can be certain that this rave will be banging from the off.
With the event closing it’s doors at 23:00, partygoers may well be wondering what to do when they shuffle out of the Priory. Well, not to worry! There will be an afterparty hosted at WaV, with KUSP and Barry Walsh taking control of the decks.
Tickets are available to buy, here. However, if you would like to be in with the chance of winning one of two pairs of tickets to the main event, all you need to do is ‘Like’ and ‘Share’ the Facebook post, below, and comment on it with a friend’s name who you would like to bring along.
